1.3 million dollars for a Christmas production. Wow. That's a lot of freaking money. Is it right? Even if done with the mission to bring the unchurched and unsaved into the church for spiritual influence? Isn't that what evangelism is all about? Shouldn't we do whatever and spend whatever to influence the lives of those far away from Christ?
I don't know.
Read what Keith Giles' take is on this:
"Just imagine how many homeless families could be cared for, fed, given shelter and have the Gospel message demonstrated to them for what it cost to put on a show like this.
Makes me remember why I left the traditional church in order to give 100% of the tithe to the poor instead of spending on over the top distractions for the Saved."
Makes you take pause to really think about Jesus, how he lived, what he taught, and what the Kingdom is all about.
If I'm honest, it's probably a bit (maybe a lot) much in light of more pressing Kingdom issues such as the literal poor and oppressed. Talk about something to think about and wrestle with.
